Topsail Island ..... the objective!

It was easy to visit the Carolina beaches while growing up in Raleigh, NC and that led to a love of the coast.  That feeling was further cemented after working at Camps Sea Gull and Seafarer on the coastal Neuse River during high school and college.  Additional experience came while stationed in the Virginia Beach, VA area during active duty with the Navy.  After retiring from IBM, my wife and I selected our favorite beach to call home, Topsail Island.  Our children come from Raleigh, Asheville and London to enjoy the beach with us and our Wheaten Terrier, Sam.

I have enjoyed working in Real Estate in the Topsail area since January of 2000 and was on the Board of Directors for the Topsail Island Association of Realtors from 2003 to 2005.  Currently, as a team member with the Rand Burchfield Real Estate Group, I focus on obtaining the best properties possible for buyers wishing to invest their money and lives in the area.  I have found the team approach to be a great benefit in optimizing results for my clients.  Call and I'll be glad to help you find your spot in the Topsail Area!

Having been a Certified Financial Planner and Financial Advisor for over 10 years before getting into real estate in 2005, I have spent a great deal of time listening and gaining an understanding of issues important to my clients so that I could help them achieve their dreams. My wife and I were thrilled to be able to move to Topsail Island from Maryland in 2000 after vacationing on TI since the early 90s. A few years ago we moved off the island and now call Hampstead our home although we still have strong sentiments about TI as the reason we are here. While my wife is a Maryland native, I am originally from Pennsylvania and have lived in the east, west and in the middle part of the state having attended and graduated from Penn State. While living in and around Baltimore for about 25 years before coming to the Topsail area, I earned an MBA from the University of Baltimore. Since coming to the Topsail area, I have been involved in the community through terms as Chairman and Treasurer on the Topsail Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, through Kiwanis and through my church. My wife and I also have volunteered for the Topsail Humane Society because of our strong interest in caring for and finding loving homes for lost or abused dogs. We currently have 5 of our own that are rescues.

We moved from Pinehurst, North Carolina, having decided to make our vacation home our permanent residence. I joined The Burchfield Group in July of 2009 and enjoy working with such a great group of professional and knowledgeable Realtors.  Having come from a venture capital background, it has been very interesting to learn the real estate industry.

Being a Topsail area native, I have seen a lot of growth since the 1970's.  After graduating from Topsail High School, I went on to attend The University of North Carolina at Wilmington.  After traveling and living in various areas in the U.S., I came back to this lovely area.  I just can't seem to live far from the beach. The real estate market has changed a lot throughout the years, but the beaches here are still just as quaint and lovely.
